Lighted Cow Abduction mod for AFM

AFM Cow mod

This is a new mod I designed and make for the Attack From Mars pinball machine: a cow being abducted !
The mod had 2 leds and lights up when the red arrow insert for the ramp is lit.

Cows are a running gag in Bally / Williams pinball machines. In AFM it is part of the game experience, the cow being abducted is shown on the display in animations and is drawn onto the ramp. With this mod it's even more obvious where the cow ramp is !

The mod is designed for the original Bally pinball machine and then hooks into the existing lighting. It is not tested on a CGC remake machine. Physically it should fit but the lights can't be hooked up. That's either up to you to test (I don't give any warranties it'll work), or I can make a painted version that doesn't light up.
Contact me if you're interested in buying this mod. The cow mod does not come with the saucer or flasher cap. Part 03-9481 should be ordered at a pinball parts dealer separate. See below for details.

Installation instructions

AFM Cow mod

You have two options. Either completely remove the cow ramp, or just loosen it enough.
To loosen it, remove the 4 screws at the bottom (red arrows). I advise you to loosen the 2 small screws at the top of the ramp (yellow arrows). Don't unscrew them completely, there is a small metal plate underneath the ramp that is difficult to put back. If you remove the ramp completely, just unscrew these too. Take care of that metal part underneath the ramp.
Also remove the right metal ramp protector. The mod will connect to its top screw (green arrow). It's held with a nut at the bottom, therefor removing it is the easiest when you completely remove the ramp so you have good access to the bottom.

Take the mod and put the plug of the wire in the hole through the playfield underneath the ramp. 2 other wires should already go down. Put it far enough in so it stays.

Install the metal ramp protector and the cow mod. Secure the nut at the bottom.

Remove the red flasher cover from the gray saucer plastic.
First carefully install the red flasher cover. Use both hands, support the yellow ring of the mod where the flasher clicks into. Don't push too hard.
Then install the grey saucer plastic.
Install all screws again to secure the ramp to the playfield.

Lift the playfield up (first remove the pinballs and other loose parts you may have laying in the playfield !).
Find the lamp socket for the red arrow of the cow ramp.
Remove the lamp socket and install the led that comes with the mod. Make sure the led is bend a bit so it doesn't stick too high.

AFM Cow mod

Install the long wire with the connector first into the hole in the lamp pcb.
Then install the lamp socket in place.
Finally connect both parts (connector through the playfield to connector part of the lamp socket).
Congratulations, the mod is now installed !
