Nos Annees flipper, mille et une facettes d'un objet devenu mythique.
A french book, translated the title is:
Our years of pinball, thousand and one aspects of an object that became mythical.
Unfortunately it's only available in french, because this is one of the best pinball books I've seen published in the last decade.
The book really has a lot of topics. It doesn't go very much in depth of details, although it has a lot of content. It's a nice combination of a lot of different articles with nice pictures. Just light enough to inform / learn you a lot, without becoming too in depth and boring because it'd become a wall of text.
The book starts with the history of pinball. An overview of how it evolved.
Then there's a large chapter about the manufacturers. Not only those in Chicago, but also european, italian en french manufacturers, including an interview with Pierre Tel, who created the french Jeutel pinball machines.
The next part is about the socio-cultural influence of the pinball and how it evolved over the years.
It discusses the artwork and different styles, and lists some of the artists that created artwork for the pinball machines.
It also discusses the relation of pinball machines with (rock) music, tv and movies, with some interviews.
The last part of the book has interviews with the active pinball companies when the book was created (2015) : Gary Stern, Jersey Jack and Heighway Pinball.
